Architecture: How Kavela Executes Work

An Agent-First Operating System for Autonomous Operations.

Most platforms attempt to solve enterprise automation by stitching static API pipelines together or layering basic LLM chatbots on top of legacy tools. Kavela fundamentally redefines this model.

Kavela places an Agentic Control Plane at the root of your operations, delegating work down to isolated cloud environments, executing heavy-lifting tasks at compiled speeds, and validating every result through independent secondary reviews.

1.The Workspace Operating System

Kavela transforms how teams, projects, and clients execute work by replacing fragmented chat sessions with a single, persistent workspace runtime.

The Unified Workspace Runtime
A workspace is a self-contained execution environment housing its own calendar, persistent files, agent fleet, and encrypted credentials. Workflows are owned by the workspace itself, ensuring execution continuity even when team members change.
The Living Calendar Interface
Instead of scattered chat channels or static task lists, the primary interface is a live, operational calendar. Every workflow run is visually represented in real time, showing active agent states, progress telemetry, and concise execution briefs upon completion.
Universal Event Ingestion
Work enters the workspace naturally from anywhere:Omnichannel Ingestion: Native team chats (Slack, Lark, Discord, Telegram), direct inbound email, or manual triggers.Event & Programmatic Triggers: Verified webhooks, file-landing events, and cron schedules.Developer Ecosystem (MCP): Full Model Context Protocol integration (kavela.ai/mcp) enabling coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) to plan with Kav, create workflows, query approvals, and inspect version histories directly.

2.The Orchestration Engine: Kav & The Agent Fleet

At the heart of Kavela is an intelligent manager-worker hierarchy that dynamic-routes, scales, and manages execution capacity.

Kav: The Autonomous Project Manager

Every workspace is managed by Kav, the central orchestration agent. You never need to manage multi-agent handoffs or manual routing:

  1. 1Intent InterpretationKav receives requests, correlates them with existing context, and formulates a multi-step execution plan.
  2. 2Dynamic DelegationKav routes tasks to the precise specialized worker agent equipped for the job.
  3. 3Automated ProvisioningIf no existing agent possesses the required capability, Kav dynamically builds, configures, and hires a new expert agent, pulling official skill sets directly from vendor ecosystems (such as Cloudflare or Supabase) and wiring necessary vault credentials automatically.

The Worker Fleet

Work is executed by specialized, purpose-built agents (such as Echo or Ship):

Persistent Identity & Memory
Every agent possesses a distinct operational soul, domain playbooks, and workspace-anchored memory maintained as readable workspace files.
Flexible Intelligence Layer
Agents reason using your connected CLI accounts (Claude Code or Codex) at no extra cost, or leverage Kavela’s native engine tiers (Kav-LITE, Kav-PRO, Kav-MAX).
Fault-Tolerant Execution
If compute or plan thresholds are reached mid-run, execution state pauses cleanly or dynamically failovers to alternative connected tiers without losing progress.

3.The Execution Plane: Cloud Environments & Hybrid Workflows

Kavela decouples abstract reasoning from computational execution, providing agents with complete, secure desktop and server capabilities.

Dedicated Cloud Computers

Every agent operates inside its own isolated cloud instance (2 vCPU, 8 GiB RAM):

Full OS Capabilities
Access to a native terminal, local filesystem, and a real headless browser.
Persistent State & Sign-Ins
Files and browser sessions persist across execution runs.
Human-in-the-Loop Browser Handoff
For complex security gates or initial CAPTCHAs, a live browser bridge opens for one-click human clearance before seamlessly handing control back to the agent.
Dedicated Workspace Inbox
Every workspace includes a native email inbox, allowing agents to independently complete sign-ups, read confirmation codes, and manage external communications.

Hybrid Workflow Engine

Workflows combine the adaptability of intelligence with the speed and reliability of code:

Plain-Language Specifications
Workflows are defined in natural language, from which Kavela constructs exact step-by-step execution trees.
Deterministic Code Acceleration
Reusable, fixed steps execute directly as compiled scripts on the agent’s cloud computer, while subjective judgement steps remain with the agentic model.
Full Version Lineage
Every workflow edit creates a distinct version with line-by-line diff tracking and instant one-click rollback capabilities.

4.Security, Credentials & The Vault

Enterprise-grade automation requires strict boundary enforcement, zero-trust credential handling, and human oversight.

Centralized Encrypted Vault
Connect apps once via OAuth, MCP, API keys, or browser sign-ins across 1,000+ integrations. Access is scoped granularly (e.g., all agents, named agents only, or restricted access).
Zero-Leakage Credential Isolation
When an agent captures or utilizes a secret, it is injected directly into the secure cloud environment. Secret values are masked and hidden from model context windows and runtime logs.
Risk-Tiered Action Governance
System actions are categorized into four distinct risk tiers: Read, Change, External, and Critical.Assistive & Supervised Modes present low-to-medium risk actions for quick review.Critical Actions (financial transactions, deletion, credential updates) always require human confirmation via the central Approvals Inbox.
Interactive Document Approvals
Review generated assets directly within approval cards, comment with feedback, and let the agent adapt and re-execute immediately.

5.Dual-Layer Verification & Self-Healing Execution

To prevent silent failures and ensure absolute accuracy, Kavela implements a mandatory secondary review framework on every single execution run.

  1. 1.Independent Secondary Review

Every completed task is handed over to a dedicated Reviewer Agent. The reviewer did not participate in the execution run and maintains zero bias. It evaluates the output strictly against the workflow’s checklist and the original user intent.

  2. 2.Closed-Loop Self-Healing

If the Reviewer detects a gap or discrepancy:

The task is returned to the worker agent with exact diagnostic feedback.

The agent re-executes and corrects the output (up to 3 automated remediation rounds).

If an unresolvable issue occurs, the task halts gracefully at the specific failed step, providing a transparent breakdown of completed work versus missing requirements.

  3. 3.Concurrent Conflict Resolution

When multiple agents edit the same workspace file simultaneously, each works on an isolated copy. Non-conflicting edits merge automatically upon saving, while conflicting lines prompt the agent to re-read updated state and reconcile edits intelligently.

6.Noise-Free Delivery & Open Architecture

Kavela ensures that high-volume background execution never clutter your communication channels.

Single-Message Summaries
Intermediate execution steps remain organized on the workspace calendar. Once a workflow finishes and passes review, Kavela delivers one clean, comprehensive message (with attached deliverables) to your designated chat or email.
Adaptive Notification Recaps
Pending approvals remain consolidated, and workspace activity is periodically summarized into clean weekly recaps to protect your attention.
Complete Data Ownership & Zero Lock-in
Workspaces, files, playbooks, and workflow definitions export cleanly at any time.
Transparent Verification Stats
Live platform performance, completed deliverables, and reviewer verification metrics are published publicly at kavela.ai/stats.
